A TALE of obsession, possession and one girl’s dream to be the greatest dancer in the world will come to life on the Wycombe Swan stage next year as Matthew Bourne’s The Red Shoes comes to the town.

The double Olivier award-winning, smash hit production will head to the Swan from Tuesday, June 2 to Saturday, June 6, 2020.

A sell-out before its world premiere season opened in 2016, Matthew Bourne’s triumphant adaptation of the legendary film returns in 2019, having won two Olivier Awards and dazzled audiences across the UK and the USA.

The Red Shoes is a tale of obsession, possession and one girl’s dream to be the greatest dancer in the world.

Victoria Page lives to dance but her ambitions become a battleground between the two men who inspire her passion.

Set to the achingly romantic music of golden-age Hollywood composer Bernard Herrmann, The Red Shoes is orchestrated by Terry Davies and played by the New Adventures Orchestra, with cinematic designs by Lez Brotherston, lighting by Paule Constable, sound by Paul Groothuis and projection from Duncan McLean.

The cast for the intoxicating drama is yet to be revealed for the Wycombe Swan, but the role of Victoria has been played by Cordelia Braithwaite.

Her first engagement with Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures was dancing the Italian and Spanish Princesses and The Girlfriend in the 2013-14 Swan Lake tour.

She has also performed as Mercedes, Frankie and Lana in the 2015 tour of The Car Man.

Most recently Cordelia performed as Victoria Page and Nadia in The Red Shoes and is now touring with Cinderella playing the title role of Cinderella and Betty.

Tickets for the Wycombe Swan show are on sale now, with showings at 2.30pm and 7.30pm between June 2 and 6.

Prices range from £15 to £50, with premium tickets priced at £55 and tickets are available at www.wycombeswan.co.uk or call the ticket office on 01494 512 000.
