CHILDREN from Bramley Church of England Primary School enjoyed a hands-on lesson in gardening from the experts at Bewley Homes’ Centenary Fields development.

Around 30 ten-year-olds were welcomed to Centenary Fields to find out more about the developer’s commitment to creating attractive natural environments.

The show house gardens at the development were designed by Inhurst Landscapes, with the concept influenced by Bewley’s ‘Created for Life’ strapline.

Inhurst’s Business Manager Helen Paul was on hand to answer the children’s questions and help them pot their own plants.

She said: “We work closely with Bewley to design beautiful landscaped gardens which have real longevity.

We have specifically added several areas of interest for an entire family rather than creating a sterile show garden.

“It was lovely to share our knowledge with the children and have them join in some real planting.

I think we all thoroughly enjoyed the event and the children were an absolute pleasure to meet.”

During the event, the children were given their own plant to pot along with a goodie bag to take home.

They were also tasked with designing their own dream garden as part of a competition, with the winner to be chosen by Bewley’s Sales and Marketing Manager Elaine Stratford before the end of term.

David Bonner, Year 5 and 6 Phase Leader at the Bramley Lane school, said: “The homes at Centenary Fields look fantastic.

"The children were all thoroughly impressed by how spacious they are and how much fun you could have running around inside.

"They loved the generosity they received when they visited the site and were all talking about how much they would love to live there.”

Elaine said: “It was a real joy to welcome the children to Centenary Fields.

"They certainly seemed to have green fingers – I’m sure there were more than a few budding gardeners in the group on the day.

"I look forward to judging their dream garden entries and am certain the standard will be extremely high.”

She added: “Our show home at Centenary Fields demonstrates to customers that our new gardens are flexible and that there is space for a garden swing as much as there is an adult pergola and barbecue – both of which are built into this garden.

Centenary Fields currently offers a range of two, three, four and five bedroom homes, with prices starting at £334,950.
