The mystery closure of a school swimming pool used by Reading residents was due to a boiler failure, it has been revealed.

Highdown School in Emmer Green revealed that their swimming pool and changing facilities will remain closed until the boiler is replaced.
The school explained that their bids over the last two years to gain funding for a replacement boiler were rejected by the Education and Skills Funding Authority (EFSA).
The agency, which funds capital projects and refurbishments of schools, said the boiler replacement was not sufficiently urgent.
Emergency funding is now being sought by the school.
Headteacher, Rachel Cave, said: “Whilst we share the frustrations that this news will cause our community, please be assured that we are in daily contact with the relevant authorities to secure this funding and progress the necessary works.”
The fitness suite, gym and outside remain open.
