The following cases were heard at Reading Magistrates' Court

May 20

Daniel Brian Butcher, 28, of Southcote Lane, Reading, admitted to failing without reasonable excuse to comply with the requirements of a community order made by Reading Magistrates' Court by failing to keep in touch with the responsible officer, failing to provide evidence and failing to attend a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement. He was fined £50 and the original requirement of a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement will continue.

May 21

Luke Stephen Robin Turner, 31, of Lulworth Road, Reading, admitted to driving while disqualified, using a motor vehicle on a road/public place without third party insurance and commission of a further offence during the operational period of a suspended sentence. The sentence was varied and he was committed to prison for 26 weeks, suspended for 12 months. He must take part in a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement for a maximum of 35 days. He was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 16 months. He was fined £100 and was ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £85.

Martin Cox, 28, of Kennet Walk, Reading, admitted to assault by beating and was committed to prison for 23 weeks, suspended for 24 months. He must take part in a Programme Requirement for 30 days, a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement for a maximum of 30 days and an Unpaid Work Requirement of 100 hours in the next 12 months. He was also ordered to pay costs of £250 and a surcharge of £115. A restraining order was made by the court.

Gary Hamilton Ford, 50, of The Brookmill, Reading, admitted to sending by public communication network an offensive/indecent/obscene/menacing message and received a community order. He must take part in a Programme Requirement for 30 days, a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement for a maximum of 10 days and an Unpaid Work Requirement of 70 hours in the next 12 months. He was also ordered to pay costs of £200 and a surcharge of £85.

Luigi Leotta, 60, of Anson Crescent, Shinfield, admitted to using a motor vehicle on a road/public place without third party insurance and was fined £400. He was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for six months and was ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £40.

May 22

Miu Catalin, 31, of Austen Gardens, Newbury, admitted to drink driving and was fined £300. He was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 20 months and was ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £30.

Ami Fitzgerald, 23, of Prince William Drive, Tilehurst, admitted to drink driving and received a community order. She must take part in an Unpaid Work Requirement of 80 hours in the next 12 months and she was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 40 months. She was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £85.

May 23

Theresa McGreevy, 56, of Canford Court, Reading, admitted to drink driving and received a community order. She must take part in a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement for a maximum of 15 days and an Unpaid Work Requirement of 120 hours in the next 12 months. She was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 24 months and was ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £85.
