CAMPAIGNERS fighting a 'funding crisis' for children with Special Educational Needs (SEND) will unite at Forbury Gardens at the end of the month.

The SEND National Funding Crisis March comes to Reading on May 30, starting with guest speakers at 1pm.

Teachers, parents and carers across the country are due to hold similar demonstrations, calling for a change in the law.

Concerns have been raised about the current SEND Code of Practice, with campaigners saying it does not provide 'the promised learning experience'.

Jacqueline Testo, one of the organisers, said: "The funds given to schools to support children with SEND are not ring-fenced, and are frequently used for basics such as staff salaries and supplies, due to the overall lack of funding in schools. We have now decided to act."
