A CARE home resident and football fanatic was delighted when members of her local local team paid a visit.

Edith McCall had the chance to meet players from Spencers Wood FC when they came to Woodbury House Care Home in Swallowfield.

The home is a sponsor of the football team and this relationship started after the death of a former resident, Alex Bunting, last year.

His son Paul Bunting and grandson Dan Bunting coach and manage the team and Edith was very happy to meet some of the players.

She said: “Meeting the team was wonderful, and they all spent lots of time telling me about their latest matches, it was so lovely of them to come and see me.”

Edith, who supports Liverpool, is always keen to know how Spencers Wood are doing and made the request as part of the Wish Well programme.

This scheme encourages residents to make a wish and experience something new, or revisit an activity they enjoyed in the past.
