RETAIL tycoon Sir Philip Green has announced 23 store closures across the country and Dorothy Perkins and Burton in Reading are among them. 

Dorothy Perkins and Burton in Broad Street is set to close under the proposed plans.

It is believed that 520 jobs will be under threat because of the plans to close down the retail shops across the country.

The stores which are under the Arcadia Group branch will also see Tophop and Topman stores close across the country.

Debenhams has recently come under threat after its owners announced 22 closures, suggesting the high street is suffering due to online sales growing.

Howevermm, local shoppers who frequent the store will be pleased to know that the Reading branch in The Oracle shopping centre will remain open for the time being

The company also plans to close down 11 Topshop and Topman stores in the US.
