FIRST responders are already seeing the benefits of a new system, funded by the generosity of members at Wokefield Park Golf Club.

Paramedics and members of the Burghfield and Mortimer Community First Responders (CFRs) team received £4,000 for the upgraded Terrafix Communication System.

The unit was fitted last autumn and is already making a difference to the volunteer team, assisting with mapping and communications with ambulance control.

Andy Clark said: "We were thrilled to raise such a significant amount this year to support the Burghfield and Mortimer CFRs.

"It is a pleasure to see the unit in use today."

Responders are trained by South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) and attend medical emergencies to provide support.

Ben Westley, community engagement officer for SCAS, added: "Our CFRs are all volunteers from the local community and we rely on the generosity of the public to support their important life-saving roles."
