Local musicians almost sweep the board at National Young Musician Final
TALENTED young musicians have achieved strong results in a prestigious national competition.
Rotary Clubs Loddon Vale and Reading Maiden Erlegh held their joint local heat in March 2019 and the two winners went on to compete in the National Young Musician Final.
Florence Cain was chosen to be the Young Singer of 2019, while cellist Oliver Simpson was placed second in the instrumentalist section.
The result was unprecedented, as there had never before been two such successful winners from the same local heat.
Anne Coulson from Loddon Vale Rotary Club organised both the local and District 1090 heats.
She is strongly supported by the Woodley Stars in organising the local heats of the Youth Services competitions.
