WYCOMBE District Council deals with thousands of planning applications every year.

They range from house owners wanting to build an extension to new homes, shops, businesses and even chopping down trees.

Here are four of the best projects announced from last week - the council will now consider whether each should go ahead.

1. Flackwell Heath FC, Wilkes Park, Magpie Lane Flackwell Heath

The football club is improving facilities at the ground on Magpie Lane, and wants to demolish its existing changing rooms and storage area.

The club then wants to build a new changing rooms building and stand for spectators.

A project to complete this work was originally approved by the council in 2004, and the football club were given five years to start the work.

And now, 15 years later, a fresh application has been submitted to improve the ground.

According to the last plan in 2004, the new building would include new rooms for home and away teams, one for match officials, a kit room, new shower blocks and a shop with serving hatch.

The plan in 2004 also featured two new covered terraces, including one with 60 seats.

2. 235 West Wycombe Road, High Wycombe

This project would see eight new flats built on West Wycombe Road near the junction woith Mill End Road.

The existing detached house would be demolished, and in its place there would be 3 x 2-bedroom flats and 5 x 1-bedroom flats.

The developers also want to create new access and car parking.

The new car park would be built at the back of the block, with an arch for cars to access it underneath the building.

This is not the only development announced for West Wycombe Road in the last two weeks. A well-know derelict building just outside the town centre is also due to revamp (see below).

3. 13 - 15 West Wycombe Road, High Wycombe.

This derelict building was previously owned by Bucks County Council, and much of it has been boarded up awaiting redevelopment.

It was previously a four-storey shop and showroom.

A plan has now emerged to redevelop it into 8 2-bedroom flats.

The initial plan is to create it as a 'car-free' development, with only two visitor parking spaces for 8 new flats.

However, the developer says that if the council doesn't like that idea, 8 more spaces could be created around the back.

4.First Floor Unit B, 11 Duke Street, High Wycombe

This project will create a centre for model railway enthusiasts in a former office in Duke Street, around the back of High Wycombe Station.

The applicants are applying to change the use of the first floor from offices to 'leisure' use.

The new centre would see the construction and erection of model railway layouts inside the building.

The plans show a workshop, a 'crew room' and areas for different model railways, with named including Hinton/Oxford, Shadwell, Leigh Street and Quincy & Cedar.

5. Crowne Plaza Hotel, Marlow

Bucks Free Press:

The hotel wants to build a large new storage building to replace the 5 shipping containers it is currently using.

The Crowne Plaza's planning agents JSA Planning say the new building will solve the 'vermin problem' from the shipping containers.

A statement from the hotel says: "It will ensure that items such as crockery, cutlery, linen, dry kitchen goods and hotel records are stored in a safe and more accessible fashion.

"The new building will make the storage much more secure than at present. The doors to the shipping containers are very heavy and the environment very damp.

"There is no other storage within the hotel complex and the operational stocks have to be stored on site.

"The existing arrangement is a health and safety risk to the staff. There is also a vermin problem that can be resolved by the construction of a permanent building. Furthermore, the building will be an aesthetic improvement to the environment of the Hotel".
