A MAN was left with serious injuries after someone drove into him and left the scene.

The incident happened at around 9.30pm on April 27 on Shinfield Road, outside the Subway sandwich shop.

A black Ford Focus collided with a black Mercedes and the victim got out of the Ford car before being struck.

He was taken to hospital for treatment after sustaining serious injuries. He remains in hospital, nearly two weeks later.

Investigating officers are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident.

A man has been charged with dangerous driving and has been remanded in custody.

Detective constable Shannon Walker said: “I am appealing for anybody that was in the vicinity of the Subway in Shinfield Road on that Saturday evening who believes that they witnessed the incident, to make contact with police.

“I would particularly urge anybody who may have dash-cam footage from the area to check this and get in touch if they have any.

“I believe that a number of people witnessed this incident as it occurred in a busy area on a Saturday evening.”
