A GENEROUS cafe is launching a new initiative to reward Newbury's unsung heroes.

Hog and Hedge, Northbrook Street, is inviting locals to nominate someone who deserves a free coffee.

Every Monday, a lucky recipient will be chosen at random to enjoy one of Hog and Hedge’s famous speciality coffees (tea and hot chocolate are included in winners would prefer) completely free of charge.

Rupert Burnell-Nugent, owner of Hog and Hedge, said: "We’ve launched our Coffee Club to celebrate all that is great about Newbury.

"It's such a vibrant and creative town with great community spirit and we've been made to feel very welcome since our opening last October.

"We're encouraging locals to nominate friends, family members and colleagues for absolutely anything - for charity work, community projects, as a thank you or simply someone who may need cheering up."

Those wanting to nominate a special someone should call into Hog and Hedge and complete a short entry card.

Rupert added: "Our speciality coffee starts its life in the rugged, rolling hills of Brazil and then is hand-roasted in Bristol to our signature taste.

"Our expert baristas grind the beans to order to craft the perfect cup every time.

"We’re really looking forward to receiving the nominations and to discovering some local heroes."
