A MEDICAL incident which caused a three vehicle collision on the M4 at junction 12 near Theale is causing long delays and traffic.

The A4 Bath Road is blocked, with all traffic being temporarily held.

The incident occurred on the northern side of the roundabout, and police are currently attending.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "Thames Valley Police officers were called today at about 2.05pm following reports of a three vehicle collision on the A4 Bath Road at junction 12 with the M4.

"Officers attended the scene along with the ambulance service.

"The driver of one of the vehicles, a man aged in his 70s, was taken to hospital for treatment.

"It is believed that he suffered a medical episode.

"No one else was injured as a result of the incident.

"The exit slip road was closed while emergency services were at the scene and this has since re-opened.

"Officers would like to thank members of the public who were at the scene and who offered help and support following the incident."

There is currently congestion in Theale along Bath Road.

On the roundabout, lane one remains closed while a van is moved, however cones have been seen being cleared up.

The M4 exit slip road is closed eastbound and the  medical incident was located on the northern side of the roundabout.
