WYCOMBE District Council considers hundreds of planning applications every year.

They range from chopping down trees to building extensions, new houses and changes to shops and businesses.

Every week we bring you a list of the latest projects that have been submitted.

But what about those that fail?

Here, we look at five of the projects that were thrown out by the council in April.

Applicants have the right to appeal the decision.

1.

Where is it?

52 Green Lane Radnage Buckinghamshire

What is it?

A plan to build a single storey side and rear extension

Why didn't the council like it?

The extension was ruled to be 'contrary to green belt policy'.

Planners felt the extensions 'would not be proportionate to the size and scale of the very small cottage'.

They said it represents 'inappropriate development that would erode the open and rural character of the green belt'.

Where is it?

Boundary Farm Sprigs Holly Lane Chinnor

What is it?

Change of use of existing single storey building to form a two bedroom home

Why didn't the council like it?

Planners felt that creating access to the building would 'encroach into undeveloped countryside of the AONB adjadent to a public right of way'.

This and the conversion would result in a 'degree of urbanisation'.

Three neighbour complaints were lodged.

3.

Where is it?

5 Jeffries Court Bourne End

What is it?

A plan to build a shed

Why didn't the council like it?

Because of its position in the front garden, planning officers said it would be an 'incongruous and alien form of development' which would be detrimental to the character of the gardens.

They were also worried that if they approved this, then lots of other homeowners would ask for something similar.

4.

Where is it?

7 Shelley Road High Wycombe

What is it?

The applicant wanted to knock down the house and replace it with two 3 bedroom homes

Why didn't the council like it?

Council officers were worried that the plot would become 'cramped' and that it would be too 'dominant' and 'visually prominent'.

Overall they said it was a 'poor design' and 'overdevelopment of the site'.

There were no neighbour complaints lodged.

Where is it?

152 Totteridge Road High Wycombe

What is it?

Applicant wanted to raise the roof and put in a dormer window as part of a loft conversion.

Why didn't the council like it?

Officers thought it was 'over-dominant' and out of character with the existing house.

The roof changes would look 'alien', they said, and would ruin the 'street scene'.

The High Wycombe Society called the project 'tasteless'.

But there were no neighbour objections raised with the council.
