TO celebrate Hilton Reading's 10th birthday, the hotel are hosting an exciting competition.

The competition invites anyone - amateur or professional - to take a photograph for a new Reading gallery in the hotel.

General manager John McLaughlin said: "At Hilton Reading we are very proud to say we have shared this wonderful town with you all for 10 years.

"To celebrate this and Reading’s local talent we would like to offer the opportunity to have your image of Reading printed in our gallery alongside a plaque with your name on it.

"Reading is a fantastic place to photograph and we would like to see not only the well-known landmarks but also the lesser-known spots around the town which mean something to you."

Entrants may submit up to three images each.

Both landscape and portrait format will be accepted.

Hilton would like to see as many images submitted as possible mobile phone photos as well as cameras are welcome.

There are three age categories - under 16s, 16-25s and 26 and over.

Mr McLaughlin added: "We’d love to see youngsters enter to get an idea of what their view of Reading is.

"And of course, it will be interesting to see older people’s images.

"And for those in between – the 16-25s – these are the people who will shape the town’s future so to discover their interpretation of Reading will be invaluable."

Judges – which will include Mr McLaughlin and professional photographer Phillip Burgess -will decide on two winners in each category, preferably one from an amateur and one from a professional.

Each winner plus friends and family will be invited for a drinks reception at the hotel where their images on the walls of the gallery will be unveiled along with a plaque which will display their name.

The closing date for entries is April 24.

Entries should be submitted to phillip.burgess@hilton.com.

Full terms and conditions can be seen on the Hilton Reading Facebook page.
