A DEDICATED friend is hosting positive charity events to mark the second anniversary of the Stockholm terror attack, which took the life of his former roommate.

With the help of his brother Matt, Jez Felwick, who grew up in Reading and is a devoted Reading FC fan, has set up the Chris Bevington Foundation, which funds projects to improve the lives of young people through the power of music.

Jez met Chris during his time at university and remained very close friends with him.

Chris, who worked for Spotify and enjoyed music, was tragically killed in Stockholm when a hijacked truck drove into him on April 7 2017.

The 41-year-old managed to throw his seven-year-old, who is Jez's godson, to safety before the impact.

The foundation has recently funded projects run by Reading music charity event Readipop, among others.

Another fundraising event, Around The Boundary, is being held by Jez and Matt on Sunday, May 5.

This will be held at local cricket club Kidmore End, where Reading artists will be taking part to raise money.

Nobody in the event gets salaries as all the profits go to charity.

Jez said: "Chris and I were very close.

"We met at Loughborough University and later lived together in London.

"He moved to Sweden a couple of years later.

"It was such a big, tragic event and was emotional at the time.

"But so many people contributed to a crowdfunding page we set up shortly afterwards, which has helped us to set up this foundation in Chris's name.

"It came from us trying to create something good out of something really bad."

Matt added: "My brother and I grew up in the area and it's great to be able to put on such an awesome local event for such a great cause.

"To create something so positive out of such a tragic, heartbreaking situation is amazing.

"Chris loved visiting us here, he loved Reading Festival and he would loved to have been part of a party like this."
