BERKSHIRE Freemasons have donated £2,500 to a Wokingham community centre that provides support for kids with additional needs and their families.

The money was donated to Building For The Future, which provides activities, support and therapy for children.

The charity is based at Our House community centre in Wokingham, which has its own accessible play centre for families to meet. The facilities include soft play, a sensory room, teen chillout zone, PCs, gaming and a free play area.

To lend their support, Freemasons from Constructor’s Lodge who meet in Sindlesham, applied for a grant from the Berkshire Masonic Charity.

Jane Holmes, the CEO and Founder of Building for the Future has a daughter who has cerebral palsy and she manages a team of volunteers who also have children with additional needs.

She said: “We are so grateful to the Berkshire Masonic Charity for their very generous donation towards the running of our community centre for disabled children in Wokingham.

“We rely entirely on fundraising in order to run our important service and would not be able to operate without donations such as these.”

The community centre relies on fundraising and donations and was the winner of “The Queens Award for Voluntary Service.” The money will help pay towards the building and furniture costs for this year.

Anthony Howlett-Bolton, the leader of Berkshire Freemasons, said: “Jane and her team do amazing work for children with needs and their families.

I am very pleased that we have been able to support in this way.” Donations can be made by visiting the JustGiving ‘Our Hourse’ page or by going to their website. For more information, visit: www.bftf.org.uk
