A MAGICAL neighbourhood walking trail will show West Reading in a new light this week.

The first ever West Reading West Window Wanderland will be taking place from March 22 - March 24.

The fun community event presents the opportunity for everyone to join in as residents, schools and businesses are invited to decorate their windows and light up the streets.

People are encouraged to grab a flask and meet up with neighbours to take a walk and enjoy the windows, and all are invited to get a map and follow the trail.

Wilson Primary, Battle Academy and Oxford Road Community School have all got pupils involved to decorate their windows, and lots of residents have signed up.

Organised by Oxford Road Timebank, a West Reading organisation, the event gives the community a chance to get together and explore the neighbourhood on a dark winter’s evening.

There will be a social workshop for neighbours to get together to share skills, materials and ideas to make some decorations for their window at Battle Library, Oxford Road on Thursday March 21 from 3.20pm – 5pm.

Materials will be provided.

Rachel Eden, chair of Oxford Road Timebank, said: "I can’t wait to see West Reading lit up and see what ideas everyone has.

"It’s a lovely opportunity and talking point to get the community together."
