A CAMPAIGN to protect the Corn Exchange theatre has reached the significant milestone of £100,000.
Newbury's popular theatre has reduced significantly less funding in recent years and the Save Your Corn Exchange appeal was launched in October.
With only one month until funding from West Berkshire Council ceases altogether, supporters are now asking the community to help them reach their target of £150,000.
Grant Brisland, the Corn Exchange’s director, said: “Thank you to everybody who has donated and signed up to give a small monthly donation.
"The community’s support for the Corn Exchange has always been strong and hitting the £100,000 milestone not only quantifies that, but gives us confidence that all of our activities will continue to thrive and not just survive, in spite of the difficult financial climate.
"We are now on the home straight to hitting the overall £150,000 target.”
As a finale to the campaign, the Corn Exchange will be presenting a family-friendly fundraising event in June.
