A health and wellness weekend is being held at Broad Street Mall.

The event is in aid of The Alzheimer's Society, and will run from Saturday March 2 to Sunday March 3.

The shopping centre will be helping those needing a hand with their 2019 healthy living aims and will host a number of activities to help get customers' health goals on track, while raising money for a great cause.

Among the activities will be a charity bikeathon, where customers can jump on exercise bikes, supplied by The Gym, to help Broad St. Mall pedal their way to achieving their target of raising £2,000.

Specially trained students from Reading School of Pharmacy will be offering free healthy living assessments, including blood pressure monitoring, body composition analysis and advice on healthy eating, alcohol consumption and stopping smoking.

There is no need for customers to make an appointment; guests can just turn up between 11am - 4pm each day.

For those that feel they need a little mental escape, Jelly will be hosting free mindfulness colouring workshops for adults and children alike.

Customers can join them on Saturday to take part in their ‘Big Drawing’ collaboration or enjoy the mandala symbol illustrating session on Sunday.

The wellness events will take place from 9am - 6pm on both days.

There will be a chance to win a hamper of goodies worth more than £150 from stores at Broad St. Mall, including Grape Tree, Superdrug, Holland and Barratt, Therapists on the High Street and Subway.

To enter the free draw, customers should complete an entry form at the event and post their entry into the box provided.

Entries close 5pm Sunday March 3, and a winner will be drawn on Monday March 4.

There will also be the chance to meet teams from stores, who will be offering out freebies, tips and advice.

They will also be on hand to answer any healthcare queries and advise of a number of special offers to help members of the public get their health kick off to a positive start.

Nicola Williamson, centre manager at Broad St. Mall. said: "With such a huge focus on health and wellness these days, we felt it apt. to hold an event on a local level that can help members of the public achieve their healthy living goals and maintain a healthy lifestyle, all whilst raising money for a fantastic cause.

"Broad St. Mall has some great stores that can help customers with this, so it’s a great way to remind customers of all the help they have at their fingertips."
