Surprised shoppers were treated to free gifts from town centre businesses as HWBIDCo marked Random Acts of Kindness Day in High Wycombe.

The team at High Wycombe Business Improvement District Company (HWBIDCo) took to the streets on Sunday (February 17) to hand out flowers, sweets and gift vouchers to unsuspecting members of the public.

Chimerique Hair Salon, The Air Raid Shelter Café and Tea Room, Treatz Dessert Parlour, La-Koco Coffee, The Massage Company, The Front Room, Heidrun, The Vanilla Pod, Linda Jane Florist, Wycombe Wanderers Football Club and Vitulli all generously donated prizes.

The fun continued into Sunday evening, with HWBIDCo randomly giving away prizes on social media - including football tickets and massages.

Discussing the idea behind the campaign, Siobhan Carney, marketing and comms coordinator at HWBIDCo, said: “We wanted to do something nice for visitors to the town and this seemed like the perfect campaign. It was also about encouraging those who received gifts to pay that kindness forward and do something nice for someone else.”

Melanie Williams, the new BID manager, was thrilled with the success of the event, adding: “It was a fun day in the town centre, a privilege even, to see joy and surprise from visitors, it seemed like a good opportunity to raise the profile of individual businesses and everyone was really generous and gave some great prizes, we want to thank all the businesses involved.”
