THE ROAD works for the Martins Heron improvement scheme on the A329 London Road have been completed.

The Martin Heron improvement scheme entered the final stage of the process on Monday, January 14 last year.

Bracknell Forest Council believe that residents will have to get used to the new layout and how best to use the new lanes.

Councillor Chris Turrell, executive member for planning and transport said: “I am delighted that the final and most challenging phase of the improvement scheme is now complete which wouldn’t have been possible without government funding.”

The first part of the work improved access to the Licensed Victuallers School to allow vehicles to enter and exit the school more efficiently.

The second part of the work made changes to the Fernbank Road junction, providing longer and wider lanes heading towards Bracknell.

Mr Turrell said: “As with all new junctions, there is a period of adjustment as drivers get used to the new layout and how best to use the available lanes.

The traffic lights on the road have been refurbished as part of the final stages and now use the latest technology, which enables the signals to adjust to traffic conditions.

Mr Turrell added: “We are also making adjustments to the traffic lights at the same time and this process usually takes a few weeks as traffic patterns begin to settle.”

The scheme was funded by the council and the government who gave a total of £3.8million towards the road improvements.
