Children and staff at a Reading school were delighted to recently receive a range of new outdoor equipment.

Kennett Valley Primary School, Carters Rise, Calcot, welcomed chair of Holybrook Parish Council, Mary Bedwell, to officially open the new facilities.

The school made a bid for funding from the Community Infrastructure Levy and was very lucky to receive a grant of £4000 through Holybrook Parish Council.

The money was used to improve the outside activity area for the Reception children, who now enjoy a builder’s den, a sandpit, a mud kitchen and a small water area.

The outside area was re-designed to incorporate the new features by Reception teacher Emma Norman, who said: "We are thrilled to be able to improve our outside provision and the children love it!

"They are using their imaginations brilliantly – we can’t wait to see what they can cook up in the mud kitchen!"
