One of the latest fundraising events organised by the Rotary Club of Reading Maiden Erlegh saw around £950 raised for charity.
On January 25, 76 players gathered to play bridge in the Charvil Village Hall. With a keen sense of competition at every table, everyone involved enjoyed the afternoon.
A team of Rotarians and other helpers prepared and served refreshments at half time, which included home-made sandwiches and cakes.
From the table fees, a raffle and the sale of cakes, the afternoon raised close to £950 for Rotary funds, which will go to charitable causes.
Rotary Club president, Sara Shears, thanked all the bridge players for attending and for their generosity.
She also recognised the hard work of the Rotary team who organised and ran the event. The bridge players were impressed by the tea-serving team, who were all dressed for the occasion in Rotary-branded aprons.
