A BRAIN surgery survivor from Bracknell is supporting the work of a charity who fund advanced research into treating brain tumours.

Bradley Price is supporting The Brain Tumour Charity and is receiving treatment following brain surgery on his tumour.

Mr Price is having botox injections to help him regain mobility in his hand and arm.

Bradley said: “It felt strange in the early days following the operation, I was confused, and my memory of some things was poor. I couldn’t recognise everyday objects like a plate or a spoon.”

“The botox is being used to help release the tight muscles in my hand that are permanently ‘clenched ‘at the moment.”

Bradley was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour when he was three-years-old.

He was told that it could not be removed but an operation was carried out to reduce the fluid surrounding it.

Bradley added: “For a few years afterwards, my life calmed down and was as normal as could be expected. I did well at school, I took part in sports and I didn’t have any real problems again, other than a few headaches.”

At the age of 23 his condition got worse, which meant doctors had to carry out the operation to remove the tumour.

Bradley said: “Words cannot express the respect and admiration I have for my surgeons and doctors.

”I am forever thankful to these amazing people as well as my friends and family who have shown their tremendous love and support throughout my ordeals.”

The charity believe that sharing stories about the disease is a crucial step in raising more awareness.

Sarah Lindsell, CEO of The Brain Tumour Charity, said: “Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of the under 40s and survival rates have not improved significantly over the last 40 years.

“It’s only through the efforts of people like Bradley, who share their stories and raise vital awareness, that we can change these shocking statistics in the future.”

Bradley’s operation was 100 per cent successful and 95 per cent of the tumour was removed.

Ms Lindsell added: “Bradley’s story, his resilience and his continued support for the vital lifeline the charity provides for so many people, will help all those affected realise that they are not alone.”
