FOOTBALL players and fans of Reading FC have rallied around a supporter after he revealed he had a tumour on his spine.

Simon Rossiter posted his devastating news on Twitter on Monday and was met with a huge amount of support from fellow Royals fans.

As well as messages from the likes of Reading striker Yakou Meite and winger Mo Barrow, Simon had dozens of kind-hearted responses to his post.

Meite even said he wanted Simon to have tickets and a signed shirt at the next game.

He said: "Well news is not good..cancer has spread again and I now have a tumour on my spine..Been told there is nothing else they can do for me.

"Still I won't be giving up the fight.. Thanks for all the messages of support."

Within a matter of hours, fans were asking if the club would be willing to do a minute of applause for Simon at the next home game.

Reading FC responded to his initial post, saying: "We're really sorry to hear this, Simon. From all of us at #ReadingFC, we're right behind you."
