A TEENAGER who grabbed and falsely imprisoned a terrified woman has been jailed.

Dylan Makepeace, of York Road, Reading, was sentenced to two years and eight months at Reading Crown Court.

The incident happened on Great Knollys Street in October when the 19-year-old grabbed his victim from behind.

The woman in her late 20s managed to break free and run away, but Makepeace chased after her and grabbed her again.

It was only when members of the public saw what was happening at around 11.10pm on October 25 that he decided to run away.

In addition to false imprisonment, Makepeace will serve a further sentence of two months for another offence, for which he received a community order.

This sentence will run consecutively.

Detective Constable Conor Hatton, of Force CID based at Reading police station, said: “This was a frightening incident for the victim, and it was thanks to members of the public who intervened that caused Makepeace to run off.

“This incident had a significant impact on the victim, and I am pleased that Makepeace has been brought to justice and will now serve a custodial sentence.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the victim for her bravery, the witnesses for their assistance throughout the case and the officer who have worked tirelessly which had led to this guilty plea.”
