PARTICIPANTS of this year’s Reading Half Marathon took part in a training day to meet runners raising money for the same charity.

Contestants who will be raising money for the Duchess of Kent Hospice attended the session at Prospect Park in Reading on Sunday, January 13.

The 12 runners were put through their paces by a personal trainer to prepare them for the 13.1 mile course.

Kelly Allen, who took part in the training said: "I thought it was amazing. It was lovely to meet everyone else and hear their stories.

“It was really inspiring and I'm looking forward to the next training session.”

The runners each completed at least one lap around the park, with some managing to go around twice.

The charity provides support and care for people across Berkshire who live with life-limiting conditions, as well as supporting their families.

The annual race will return on March 17 and will see thousands of competitors hit the streets to raise money for good causes.

All entrants are advised to follow Reading Half Marathon on Facebook and Twitter for updates.
