The following cases were heard at Reading Magistrates’ Court
December 12
Liam Ernst Lieske, 22, of Lyndhurst Road, Tilehurst, admitted to criminal damage to property valued under £5,000, namely a glass panel in a door belonging to OneStop in Theale of an unknown value. He was fined £200, ordered to pay compensation of £250 and made to pay costs of £85.
Dylan Lucanus Augustus, 25, of Beatty Rise, Spencers Wood, admitted to drink-driving and speeding. He was fined £200 and disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 22 months. He was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £30.
Robin Gurung, 29, of Elvaston Way, Reading, admitted to drink-driving, without third-party insurance and driving a vehicle without a authorised licence. He was fined £500 and disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 22 months. He was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £50.
December 13
George Nigel Yanni, 38, of Edinburgh Road, Reading, admitted to using threatening/abusive/insulting words with intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress and the offence was racially aggravated. He also admitted to possessing a controlled drug of Class A, namely heroin. He was committed to prison for a total of eight weeks. The offence was aggravated by being committed while the defendant was subject to a community sentence. He was also ordered to pay compensation of £200.
Yvonne Sandra Long, 63, of The Meadway, Tilehurst, admitted to assault by beating and received a conditional discharge for six months. The defendant has been excluded from the Prince of Wales Public House, Tilehurst, for a period of six months. She was also ordered to pay compensation of £75, costs of £85 and a surcharge of £20.
December 14
Bernard McDonagh, 25, Rhine Close, Caversham, admitted to drink driving and was fined £150. He was also ordered to pay costs of £320 and a surcharge of £30. He was disqualified from driving for 16 months.
December 17
Donald James Houghton, 48, of Arbroath Road, Reading, admitted to two counts of theft from a shop and conviction of an offence while a community order was in force. He was dealt with for the original offences, namely theft from a shop, possessing a controlled drug of Class B and failing without reasonable cause to surrender to custody, having been released on bail during criminal proceedings. He was committed to prison for a total of eight weeks and ordered to pay a surcharge of £115.
Balwinder Singh, 37, of Hanwood Close, Woodley, denied assault by beating and was found guilty. He received a community order and will be required to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. A restraining order was issued by the court and the defendant was ordered to pay costs of £700. He must also pay compensation of £100 and a surcharge of £85.
Joachim Wisniewski, 35, of Gosbrook Road, Caversham, admitted to assault by beating and was committed to prison for a total of 16 weeks, suspended for 12 months. As part of his community order, he will be required to take part in a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement for a maximum of 15 days and to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He was ordered to pay compensation of £300, costs of £300 and a surcharge of £115.
December 19
Barry Richard Gosney, 30, of no fixed abode, admitted to two counts of theft from a shop and failing without cause to surrender to custody, having been released on bail during criminal proceedings. He was committed to prison for a total of 10 weeks and he was ordered to pay a surcharge of £115.
