THE passenger of a van which collided into parked cars and hit a wall has died, Thames Valley Police confirm.

The man in his 40s was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital after he sustained life-threatening injuries following the collision.

His next of kin have been informed and supported by specially trained officers.

Police have arrested a 38-year-old man in connection with the crash which took place in Sonning Common

Alexander Clarke, of no fixed abode, was charged on Friday, January 4 for the collision on Wood Lane where a Ford Transit Van collided into parked cars and a wall at 10.30pm.

He has been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, failing to provide a breath test and using a vehicle on a road without insurance.

He currently remains in custody and appeared at Reading Magistrates Court yesterday.

Clarke is further remanded by the court to appear at Reading Crown Court on February 4.

The investigation in to the circumstances of the collision remains ongoing.

Police constable Mark Dunne, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit based at Three Mile Cross, said: “I would like to appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, to anyone with any dash-cam or CCTV footage of the incident, to contact police.”
