A FESTIVE shopper stopped for a selfie with the Prime Minister at a supermarket on Friday.

Theresa May was spotted in the Waitrose branch in Twyford with her husband and a team of four bodyguards.

Charles Chapman politely asked the Conservative leader if she would have her photo taken and she obliged.

He said it was pleasant to see her out and about, following an unsavoury time with Brexit in the build up to Christmas.

Mr Chapman added: She was in high spirits.

"I thought she had been through a tough time lately so I put my arm around her and asked for a photo.

"When I asked her to press the shutter, she knew what to do."

The Tory chatted freely with other shoppers, but bumped into Mr Chapman as she was searching for bread.

He said: "It looked like she was planning a big dinner.

"I have seen her in Waitrose before, but that was before she was one of the most famous people in the world."
