A CYCLIST was rushed to hospital in a critical condition after being involved in a collision in central Reading.

The incident happened at around 6.20pm on Saturday, when a Ford Fiesta and a blue and black Lannutti bicycle collided at the junction of Southampton Street and the A4.

The car was travelling towards Pell Street from Crown Street when the collision happened.

Police initially appealed for help to trace the identity of the the injured cyclist.

He was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in a critical condition and has since been identified.

Police constable Jennifer Laurie, of the Thames Valley Roads Policing Team, said: “This is a serious collision and our priority at this time is to identify the cyclist involved.

“If you recognise the description of the bicycle described and you have any information, please contact police.

“We would also like anyone with dash-cam footage or anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch and help with the investigation.”
