A WOMAN is due to appear before the courts more than a year after a police officer and pensioner died in a crash.

Off-duty constable James Dixon and Gladys Goodwin, 91, died after the collision on the A4 Bath Road in Wargrave last December.

PC Dixon, who was known for his appearances on Road Wars, was on his motorbike and Mrs Goodwin was a passenger in a vehicle.

Sussex Police carried out an independent investigation into the crash on behalf of Thames Valley Police, while the Independent Office for Police Conduct probe is ongoing.

As a result, Agne Jasulaitiene, has been charged with two counts of causing death by careless driving.

The 35-year-old is due to appear before Reading Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

PC Dixon's wife, Samantha, was pregnant with their first child at the time of his death.

She gave birth to a son three months later and named the baby Parker Cameron James Dixon.

The officer, who was based at Loddon Valley police station, died at the scene of the crash on December 5, 2017.

Speaking after his funeral, Samantha said: “He was a loving husband, excited father-to-be, caring son and brother and genuine friend to many. He was one of life’s legends.

“We are all truly heartbroken and devastated by his loss. His death leaves behind a hole that can never and will never be filled. He will be missed forever and never forgotten.”

Mrs Goodwin was killed by the impact and her daughter Sandra Blunden said she would be 'completely lost without her'.

She said: “Mum was a fun loving, jolly lady that everybody loved as soon as they met her.

"We were together nearly all hours of every day.

"I will be completely lost without her. She was full of fun and laughter and never had a bad word to say."
