A LARGE quantity of cash was stolen from a Post Office by two men who claimed to be carrying a gun.

At around 9.40am on Thursday, December 6, two offenders entered the building on Purley Rise and threatened a member of staff.

One of the offenders forced the victim to the floor and demanded the keys to the safe.

The first offender is described as a black man, aged in his mid to late 40s, with short black hair, facial stubble and of stocky build.

He was wearing black rimmed glasses, a white hard hat and yellow high-vis vest.

Underneath he was wearing a black sweatshirt, black tracksuit bottoms, black trainers and thick blue rubber gloves.

The second offender is described as a white man, between 5ft 5ins and 6ft tall, bald and of large build.

He was wearing a thick rubber mask that covered his whole face and a loose fitting jacket.

Police constable Ryan Smith of Newbury police station said: “We are appealing for information to help us investigate this incident.

“It was a scary experience for the victim, who luckily was not injured.

“Anyone who was in or around the area at the time this took place is asked to get in touch with police.”
