The following cases were heard at Reading Magistrates’ Court

November 19:

Philip George Manning, 31, of no fixed abode, denied possessing a controlled drug of Class B, namely cannabis/cannabis resin and was convicted after a summary trial. He also admitted to commission an offence while being the subject of a conditional discharge order. He received a conditional discharge of 18 months and the court made an order for the destruction of the drugs. He was also made to pay a sur charge of £20.

Garry Skinner, 48, of Rowan Close, Reading, admitted to speeding and was fined £83. His driving licence was endorsed with three penalty points and he was ordered to pay a surcharge of £30.

Harry Georghiou, 28, of Ashburton Road, Whitley, admitted to failing without reasonable excuse to comply with the requirements of a community order, by failing to attend a drug rehabilitation requirement. The conditions were varied and he must now have treatment for drug dependency for the next 18 months. He was also made to pay costs of £60.

November 20:

Dean Stuart Johnson, 40, of Connaught Road, Reading, admitted to assault by beating and was committed to prison for 16 weeks. The offence was deemed particularly serious as it was carried out in public on a vulnerable victim, having assaulted the same victim in the past and breached a restraining order. He was committed to prison for 16 weeks and ordered to pay costs of £300.

Christian Matthew Kelly, 35, of Willow Street, Reading, admitted to two counts of theft from a shop and commission of an offence during the operational period of a suspended sentence. The sentence was activated and he was committed to prison for five weeks.

November 21:

Andrew Peter Koba, 57, of no fixed abode, admitted to possessing an article, namely a folding knife, in a public place. He also admitted to possessing a controlled drug of Class B, namely amphetamine, and failing without reasonable cause to surrender to custody, having been released on bail during criminal proceedings. He was committed to prison for four weeks, suspended for 12 months and an order was made by the court for the drugs and knife to be destroyed. He was made to pay costs totalling £200.

Brian Patrick Charlton, 29, of Coronation Square, Reading, admitted to threatening to threatening to damage/destroy property in Reading and criminal damage to property valued under £5,000 in Bracknell. He was ordered to pay compensation of £80.

Jack Grayson, 23, of Little Heath Road, Tilehurst, admitted to drink-driving and was fined £634. He was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 14 months. He was also made to pay a surcharge of £63 and costs of £85.

Malgorzata Wyroba, 44, of Hawley Mews, Reading, admitted to drink-driving, driving without an authorised licence and without third-party insurance. She was fined £600 and disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 18 months. She was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £60.

November 22:

Jessica Misselmoore, 33, of Mariners Close, Somerset, admitted to outraging public decency by having sexual activity in a public place, namely Reading Station, with Tyrone Niwas. She was fined £128, ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £30.

Lewis Dearlove, 19, of Hatfield Court, Reading, admitted to causing criminal damaged to property valued under £5,000 and was ordered to pay compensation of £200.
