THOUSANDS of pounds worth of damage has been caused at a popular park.
Victoria Park in Newbury was hit by vandals recently and CCTV images have been sent to Thames Valley Police.
Newbury Town Council bemoaned the attack on the site, with the cost of repairs to the roof coming as a setback to future projects.
Councillor Adrian Edwards, leader of the council, said: “This wanton destruction of public property has to be paid for by the community of Newbury.
"We could have provided seats, flowers, playground equipment or other improvements to the park with the £2,500 that we have to spend repairing the damage caused by these vandals.
"I would also ask the community to be vigilant and report any incidents of anti-social behaviour or vandalism they see in the park."
Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101.
