JOHN Healey MP visited Reading to discuss the progress being made by the council to deliver affordable housing across the town.

The Shadow Secretary of State for Housing met with councillors Rachel Eden and John Ennis and spoke with residents to hear their views.

After being given a tour of Kennet Island, Mr Healy was able to see first-hand how far the project had come, having previously visited Reading before the development had been completed.

He said: “It was great to return to Reading to see how a Labour-led council is building the new homes people in Reading need.

“Despite the lack of support from Conservative ministers nationally, Reading Borough Council is delivering on housing, including building vital new low-cost homes.

"We can achieve even more, and achieve Labour’s bold plans for housing, by electing Labour candidates like Rachel Eden as a Members of Parliament, and with a Labour Government in Westminster.”
