A RECENT quiz night organised by Valero Pembroke Refinery has seen over £3,000 raised for a local children’s charity.

Held on September 21 at The Cricketers in Pembroke Dock, the quiz was organised by Valero’s Volunteer Council, a dedicated group of employees and contractors at Pembroke.

A total of £3,100 was raised on the night from entry fees and a successful raffle. The funds were raised for Valero’s 2018 charity of the year, the Pembrokeshire Sibling Group, which provides help for children with brothers or sisters with disabilities or additional needs, providing days out and residential trips for children and families throughout the year.

Chair of Pembrokeshire Sibling Group Lee Hind, who also entered a team into the quiz, said: “Our thanks go to the Valero Volunteer Council for organising this fantastic event and for all the individuals and companies that supported the event on the night. This is an incredible amount of money, and will really help us in our efforts to support children with siblings affected by disabilities and additional needs in Pembrokeshire.”

Refinery Public Affairs Manager Stephen Thornton, added, “The Valero Volunteer Council always have brilliant ideas on how we can help charities and groups across our community, and this charity quiz was an amazing way for the refinery workforce to raise funds for our chosen charity and have a great deal of fun at the same time.”
