ARMED robbers stole cash from a bookmakers after threatening staff with a handgun during a terrifying raid.

Two men stormed into the Betfred shop on Oxford Road at around 8.25am on Thursday and approached the staff counter.

One of the offenders produced a handgun and threatened a staff member and demanded money.

A quantity of cash was placed in a plastic bag and both offenders left the store.

The first offender is a white man, approximately 30 years of age, who was dressed in a black waist-length jacket, with a fur-lined hood and dark trousers.

The second was also a white man of the same age and was dressed in a multi-coloured red and blue hooded jacket, with dark trousers with white stripes down the leg and light-coloured shoes.

Nobody was in injured during the incident.

Detective chief inspector Matt Stone, of Force CID at Reading, said: “We are appealing for witnesses to this incident, which was a terrifying experience for the victim.

“It happened in a public place and there is a high chance of it being witnesses by someone.

“We would urge anyone with information to come forward and help us with our investigation.”
