A TABLE tennis tournament in the town centre attracted dozens of competitors.

Broad Street Mall played host to The Reading Open amateur competition on October 20-21.

Players were split into junior and senior categories and made to take part in heats on the first day.

Adam McKenzie won the junior prize, while Fabio Ribeiro was crowned as the top adult player.

Graham Mountford, centre manager, said: "There was a great atmosphere in the centre throughout the weekend and it was great to see local people coming together in the spirit of the competition to make it such a success.”

Members of the University of Reading's table tennis team took centre stage on the second day for their own demo match to wow the crowd.
