A THUG has been jailed for six years after he assaulted a man, causing him to suffer a bleed on the brain.

Djed Lee-Hewitt, aged 25, of South View Avenue, Caversham, Reading, was charged on March 12 with one count of GBH with intent.

On July 1, 2017, at around 9.30pm at Christchurch Bridge in Caversham, Lee-Hewitt assaulted a man. He hit him to the ground and then proceeded to kick him in the head.

A witness stepped in and stopped the attack.

The victim, a man in his 30s, suffered a bleed on the brain, he has since been discharged from hospital following treatment and is still recovering.

Djed Lee-Hewitt pleaded guilty at Reading Crown Court on October 23 and was sentenced to six years’ imprisonment at the same hearing.

Detective sergeant Nathan Lampard of Force CID in Berkshire, said: “This was a horrific case in which the victim suffered very serious injuries.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the victim for their support throughout this case and the witnesses who came forward following the assault too.

“The hard work of the investigation team, and those involved in the case, led to Lee-Hewitt admitting his guilt and this prevented what could have been a lengthy trial.”
