A JUDICIAL hearing on plans to relocate The Heights Primary School at Mapledurham Playing Fields will be held on November 20.

Mapledurham Playing Fields Protection Group (MPFPG) raised £7,395 to legally challenge Reading Borough Council’s decision to grant conditional approval to the Education Skills Funding Agency’s proposal.

Judicial review proceedings commenced on September 21.

A judgement may be given immediately or may run on from that date, according to Chris Brooks, head of legal and democratic services at RBC.

The Mapledurham Playing Fields Trustees Sub-Committee met on October 22 to discuss developments at the site.

Two additional changing rooms within the pavilion are to be omitted in favour of a match funded artificial all weather pitch, after feedback from Caversham Trent’s FC that it would be more beneficial.

Mapledurham Playing Fields is a charitable trust, owned in trust by RBC, with the objective of providing and maintaining a recreation ground for the benefit of inhabitants of Mapledurham Parish and the Borough of Reading.

MPFPG believe the council has contravened national planning guidelines and fears the development will devastate recreational activities.
