AN ELDERLY man suffered bruising after he was thrown across a car park during an assault.

Thames Valley Police is investigating two assaults, which are believed to have taken place on Bay Road, Bracknell.

The victim, a 72-year-old man, was hurled to the ground by an unknown offender on October 5, at around 6.30pm.

He was taken to the Accident and Emergency Department at Frimley Park Hospital and has since been discharged.

Another assault took place on October 17 at around 4.40pm and on this occasion the elderly man was kicked before the offender spotted someone he knew and stopped the attack.

The victim, who did not want to be identified, said: "There seems to be an awful lot of street crime in this area.

"He approached in the opposite direction and he must have taken offence to something I had said.

"I am quite frail and I told him to calm down, but he just kept shouting and swearing at me."

It was at this point that the victim was grabbed by the jacket and tossed to the floor of the car park.

The victim added: "At the moment, I am walking with a limp. Although there is no actual damage, it is very swollen and I have bruising all down the left side of my body.

The second incident took place while the same man was waiting for a taxi and he managed to steady himself after being kicked in the ankle.

He said: "I got out my phone and managed to take a picture of him coming at me with his fist clenched.

"He just saw red. I tried to tell him to leave me alone, but it just made him more angry and he carried on swearing at me."

No arrests have been made in either case, but Thames Valley Police would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed either of the assaults.
