YOUNGSTERS have been playing their part to mark 100 years since the end of the first world war.
Residents have come together in a bid to 'Turn Tilehurst Red' and they have been joined by 2nd Tilehurst Brownies.
The event, which runs from November 1-14, invites everyone in the village to make displays for the commemoration.
A popular method for this year has involved taking plastic bottle and turning them into poppies for decoration.
Special badges will be available for uniformed groups to purchase and can be reserved by going to our Facebook site Turn Tilehurst Red.
Churches are taking part and doing a display of knitted poppies. One church even made a 9ft poppy cross and local Scouts and Brownie groups will be completing group and individual designs, which will be displayed around the village.
