A TEENAGER has been charged with a number of offences following an incident in a Lower Earley park.

The victim, an 18-year-old man, was assaulted and his car badly damaged after he was approached in Chalfont Park on March 27.

He suffered stab wounds to his back and legs as he tried to leave the park, after being told to hand over tobacco and a mobile phone.

A 17-year-old boy from Shinfield has been charged with one count of criminal damage to a vehicle, one count of assault by beating, one count of theft from a shop and one count of possession of an offensive weapon.

He is due to appear at Reading Youth Court on October 10.

No further action will be taken into the allegation of robbery during the incident.
