The nostalgia of war-time Britain was captured at Hughenden's spectacular 1940s weekend.

Visitors to Hughenden Manor stepped back in time to experience the drama of the Second World War in the annual 1940s event with living history re-enactments, military and civilian displays, food, music and dancing from the era.

Hughenden Manor itself played its own role in the Second World War and was home to a secret map-making operation between 1941 and 1946.

There was a packed programme of exhibits, demonstrations and performances on both September 15 and 16.

Live music from the era was provided by The Polka Dots, Marina Mae and Fiona Harrison, while spectators were wowed by a reenactment skirmish between British and German infantry across the parkland.

Civilian and military period vehicles were on display for a close up view, while the highlight of the weekend was a flypast by the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight featuring a Spitfire.

Members of the Bucks Free Press Camera Club, Susan Brown and Dominic Cadle, were on hand to capture some special moments throughout the day.
