A BRAND new convenience store is open for business following a major investment, writes Jim Tatum.

Midcounties Co-operative Food teamed up with charity, The Pilot Light Trust, to celebrate the grand opening of the new store in Woodlands Avenue, Woodley.

Following a £550,000 investment, the food store officially opened to the public on Thursday, September 6, and the 20 new colleagues celebrated its arrival with a £100 food donation to The Pilot Light Trust.

Shoppers who visited on the opening day were treated to some of the finest food and drink that Berkshire has to offer from the store's Best of Our Counties range.

The new store offers a variety of enticing features, such as an on-site bakery which bakes fresh bread and pastries daily, as well as a hot food counter where shoppers can stop to eat.

Store manager Agata Amir, said: “It was fantastic to see so many local people walking through the doors of our brand new store to see for themselves all the exciting products and services that we’ve brought to Woodley. We pride ourselves on the fantastic customer service we provide and are confident that our shoppers will enjoy the experience they have in the store with us.

“We celebrated the opening with a donation to our local food bank partner, the Pilot Light Trust. We’re looking forward to working closely with the charity over the next 12 months to support the amazing work they do.”
