BRIGHT new fire engines will be deployed at the Newbury station to modernise the fleet for the emergency services.
The two vehicles were presented at a handover ceremony from the Royal Berkshire Fire Authority (RBFA).
This is part of a Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service programme to modernise the ageing fleet with state-of-the-art vehicles, with the latest technology.
Councillor Angus Ross, RBFA's lead member for Strategic Assets, said: “I am delighted that Newbury Fire Station will be home to two of the new fire engines, following their successful introduction at four other stations last year.”
The new fire engines have been built by Emergency One Ltd and will replace the existing engines based at Newbury.
They feature larger hose reels that enable water to be delivered more quickly to extinguish fires.
