A CHILDREN'S charity has received a welcome donation of £1,000 to purchase new equipment and help families living in poverty.

CALA Homes handed over the funds to First Days Children’s Charity as part of the community bursary scheme.

The charity offers practical support to disadvantaged families across Berkshire and the latest donation will help volunteers to purchase mattresses for the families they help.

Annette Honeyball, fundraising manager at First Days Children’s Charity, said: “We are so grateful to CALA Homes for the money they have donated to us and are pleased to fulfil the many requests we have had for this item.

“The £1,000 donated by CALA will enable us to provide a safe sleeping environment for around 160 babies born to families in need across Berkshire over the next year.”
