Alex Douglas, from Charvil, has beaten off thousands of others in the Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition.
He has been named a regional finalists in Specsavers' annual search to find the person with the biggest specs appeal.
Despite being a shy teenager, Alex admits that he has become very fond of his glasses and is excited to take part in the rest of the competition.
He said: "My Grandma is absolutely thrilled and very proud. Even if I do not make it through the finals, I am sure she will have my regional finalist certificate and photography from the Specsavers’ photo-shoot on her mantelpiece.’"
He currently works part-time for the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue service and hopes to go full time in the near future.
